Seismic risks zones in France

Saved by earthquakes with regard to the other regions of the world, France contains some seismic risks zones. The national territory and the municipalities will be divided into 5 zones of seismicity:
  • zone 1: very low,
  • zone 2: weak,
  • zone 3: moderate,
  • zone 4: average,
  • zone 5 : Strong.
Only some territories are classified in strong zone (Guadeloupe, Martinique, St Martin), whereas 19 territories are classified in average zone. The file of technical diagnosis is given to the buyers of an immovable property and informs them about the state of the natural and technological risks.
