The kitchen is a significant component of our houses which allows in particular the storage of food, their preparation, in short the management of our energy source. To reconsider the design of its kitchen became vital with the multiplication of the ustensils and the functions of the modern kitchen.
Current kitchen and constraints
The modern life imposes constraints which must be considered in installations of the kitchen. These constraints are consisted by the technology innovations, but also the objective of reduction in the factor time to adapt to the fast rhythm of the modern life.
The equipment of current kitchen is almost assimilated to the elements of a spaceship so much the number of apparatuses which can be present there is numerous. That was justified with an aim of improvement of the living conditions and changes which have upsets the family structure. If 50 more years ago, the concept of “housewife” prevailed, the tendency made that many women left this social yoke to integrate the work world.
New requirements thus made their appearance quite naturally, in particular of the requirements of ergonomics, of performance, but also of aestheticism. The optimization of the space of a kitchen must thus pass by a facility of circulation and access to the various elements which compose it. One can speak about a triangle of activity concentrated around storage, preparation-cooking and washing.
These are the elements which are used as commercial arguments for the manufacturers of pieces of furniture of kitchen. The ranges of contemporary or current kitchens illustrate this commercial attitude completely.
Optimal installation of its kitchen: the principle of the triangle
The principle of the triangle is used as guiding line with the installation of the modern kitchens. It consists inter alia distributing on the angles of a triangle the three most important elements of a kitchen. They are the piece of furniture of storage of the food (a refrigerator, a guard to be eaten…), the sink for washing and surfaces of cooking.
Metric standards were even established for an optimal comfort and access to each one of these elements. The perimeter of the formed triangle must thus be at least 15 feet (4m50) and at most 26 feet (8m). The edges should not either exceed the 9 feet or the 2,7m with the shortest length for that separating the sink of the surface of cooking with a distance of less than two meters.
By respecting these measurements, the passage in the middle of the kitchen can be avoided to facilitate work in the kitchen. And concretely, that is illustrated by a facility of increased arrangements, a direct access with the scheme of work and an installation optimized for the washing of the elements entering the phase of preparation, cooking and consumption of food.
Moreover, for an installation even more effective, the materials such as stainless are privileged. It is an ideal matter, because easy of maintenance and makes it possible to work there directly. That relates to the installation of the scheme of work, there this one must be also sufficiently large and enlightened to be able to cook in all peace. |
