Property: 2009, black year for construction in France
2009 gives us his latest statistical series and the beginning of 2010, the time is the balance sheet for a new real estate market fairly experienced. Before the eventual recovery, the Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development Tuesday, January 26 reveals that the figures on a very dull construction now who dressed his wounds.
"In a context of international crisis, 2009 marks one year of decline for the building," noted the AFP this morning to Secretary of State for Housing Appeared Benoist. Whether building permits or starts, the decline has indeed been widely felt within the industry. If a slight improvement noted for the last quarter helped to maintain the hope of a brighter future, building professionals undoubtedly will mark the year 2009 a black stone.
Over the last twelve months, the number of building permits issued and would have reached its lowest level in six years. With 397,310 permits, the decline amounted to -17.8% compared to the previous year. "Not since November 2003 to observe an accumulation of less than 12 months to 400,000 units authorized," says the ministry. In detail, only the building permit for residential properties displayed in progress (+7.7%), housing individuals (12.8%) and utilities (-27%) for accusing them an heavy recoil.
With 333,247 construction begun, the statement on housing starts is similar. For the full year 2009, their number is declining by -16.7% compared to fiscal 2008. Again collective dwellings (-19% at 137,000 units) seem generally more affected than the individual units (-16.2% to 177,000 units).
Despite the statistical publication of the most morose, Benoist Appeared defended himself from falling into excessive pessimism, wishing rather to relativize this statement in 2009 by projecting a European scale. "In France, the construction sector held up better than its European counterparts with 330,000 housing starts and 50,000 jobs were saved thanks to the recovery plan," he said as well.
